What is menopause?

Menopause isn’t just the end of your periods- it’s a full-body, hormonal shift that can affect everything from your sleep and mood to your energy, memory, and relationships.

It starts with perimenopause, when oestrogen and progesterone begin to fluctuate. You might not realise it at first- just that you feel off, tired, not quite yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Can your doctors and nurses help with all the symptoms of menopause?
plus

Yes, our clinical team have experience in supporting women with all the symptoms of menopause. Every clinician has completed additional training with the British Menopause Society on hormonal symptoms. They are well trained to support you.

How do the treatment plans work, and what do they cost?
plus
Start with a specialist appointment: Your care begins with a 45-minute online appointment with a menopause specialist. This is dedicated time to feel heard, explore your symptoms and history in depth, and receive a personalised treatment plan recommendation.
Review your plan before deciding: After your appointment, your personalised plan is shared in your portal so you can review it in your own time and decide whether you’d like to continue. There’s no obligation to proceed.
Personalised plans from £89 per month: If you choose to continue, plans start from £89 per month and run in 3-month blocks. Each plan includes one core treatment (such as HRT, testosterone or CBT).
What’s included in your plan: Your plan includes medication delivery, clinician check-ins, a monitoring blood test, a treatment review appointment, and unlimited messaging with our clinical team during working hours
Tailored to you, with clear pricing: Some people may need additional treatments or higher doses. If so, any extra costs are clearly explained upfront, so you always understand what’s included and why.
The focus is on finding the right treatment match for you, and then reviewing and adjusting it over time so it works safely and effectively.
Can your doctors and nurses help me if I have had serious health conditions in the past like cancer?
plus

Yes, our clinical team are experienced in supporting women with complex health histories. We also offer solutions which are safe to start if you have had cancer before. Your expert clinician will always make a plan which is safe for your unique health history.

What other treatments are available if HRT is not right for me?
plus

If HRT isn’t suitable, there are alternatives. These include supplements specifically created for midlife, menopause-specific CBT for mood and sleep, and targeted treatments like vaginal oestrogen or face cream for local symptoms. They’re generally less effective than HRT for overall symptom relief, but they can still make a meaningful difference.

Do you collect my health history before the appointment?
plus

Yes, we ask you to complete a detailed health questionnaire before your appointment. This is a very important part of us being able to provide safe, effective and data driven care. When you book an appointment, you will receive an email asking you to complete your pre-appointment questionnaire.

What is the risk of breast cancer if I start HRT?
plus

For most women, the absolute risk is small. Oestrogen-only HRT (used if you don’t have a womb) does not increase breast cancer risk. Combined HRT (oestrogen plus progestogen) is associated with a slight increase, which depends on the type of progestogen used and how long HRT is taken. Body-identical progesterone, the main progestogen used in modern HRT, is thought to carry very little or no increased risk. Your doctor will always assess your personal risk factors and help you weigh the risks against the benefits.

Will my blood tests show if I need to start treatment?
plus

Blood tests can help in some situations, but they’re not always necessary. Menopause is usually diagnosed based on your symptoms and age, not just hormone levels, which can fluctuate day to day. Blood tests are more useful if there’s uncertainty, if you’re already on HRT and not improving, or if another condition (like thyroid problems or deficiencies) needs ruling out.

What are the benefits of starting HRT
plus

HRT is the most effective treatment for menopause symptoms, helping many women feel more like themselves again. Common benefits include:

Relief from hot flushes and night sweats, often within weeks
Better sleep and energy, which can improve mood and concentration
Reduced brain fog, anxiety, and mood changes
Improved vaginal and urinary health, reducing dryness, discomfort, and recurrent UTIs

Beyond symptom relief, HRT also supports long-term health:

Stronger bones
Oestrogen plays a key role in maintaining bone density. After menopause, bone loss accelerates, increasing the risk of osteoporosis and fractures. HRT helps slow bone loss and significantly reduces fracture risk while you’re taking it.
Healthy ageing and longevity
Starting HRT around the time of menopause may support overall long-term health, including muscle strength and physical resilience. For many women, feeling better day-to-day also makes it easier to stay active, sleep well, and maintain healthy habits that matter as we age.
For most women, the benefits of HRT outweigh the risks, especially when treatment is personalised, reviewed regularly, and started at the right time. Your menopause specialist can help you decide whether HRT is right for you based on your symptoms, medical history, and long-term health goals.
